As a lead-up to the Miami Grand Prix, WhatsApp unveiled a revamp of their race car emoji with an epic projection on the Empire State Building, powered on by none other than Lewis Hamilton and Toto Wolff. Visible for miles, the spectacle kicked off in style as we followed singer Rauw Alejandro with director Vinny Picone to a Mercedes viewing party to catch the action up close and meet Lewis.

The next day, Hamilton shocked a crowd of New Yorkers, rolling up in a Mercedes W12 to lay down donuts on 5th Ave, while a full-sized emoji go-kart made laps on the 86th floor of the Empire State Building. We ended up with more than 3T of incredible footage that racked up millions of views across WhatsApp, Mercedes F1, and Hamilton’s own channels.
